My journey with Linux began back in 2006 (or 2007), and I still vividly remember the exact moment it started. I inserted a Knoppix Live CD into my disc drive, listening to the drive spin up with excitement and curiosity. When the desktop popped up directly from that CD—without touching the hard drive—I was hooked. It was an incredible experience that changed my relationship with technology forever.
Since that day, Linux has been my primary operating system. Over the years, I have bought several computers where my very first step was simple: wipe Windows completely and install Linux.
I have experimented with numerous distributions over the decades, but time and again, one distribution stands out as the absolute best for my workflow: Ubuntu Linux.
Having used Ubuntu for so many years, I know the OS inside and out. That deep familiarity makes my daily computer work fast, intuitive, and stress-free.
A common misconception is that Linux is only for servers or terminal command-line experts. The truth is: you can do everything on Ubuntu that you can on Windows or macOS—often smoother and with far fewer distractions.
Whether I am:
Browsing the web safely and privately
Streaming videos on YouTube and listening to music
Building websites (like Google Sites and custom web projects)
Managing files, documents, and system tasks
Ubuntu handles it all effortlessly.
One of the main reasons I rely on Ubuntu is its robust security model. Unlike other operating systems where malicious software can easily modify system files in the background, Ubuntu protects core system files by requiring explicit root (administrative) access.
Because critical files cannot be altered without master permission, it is virtually impossible to accidentally mess up the system or get infected by standard malware. You get a clean, stable, and incredibly resilient operating system out of the box.
Linux started as a thrilling experiment with a Live CD almost two decades ago, but today Ubuntu is my indispensable daily driver. It gives me full control over my computer, ironclad security, and a hassle-free environment to focus on what matters most: creating and building online.
If you are curious about making the switch or want to simplify your computing life, Ubuntu is one of the most rewarding operating systems you can choose.
